Molegro Participates in a Joint Project Focusing on Development of New Computational Models for Drug Discovery

Aarhus, Denmark, January 31st, 2007 - The Programme Commission on Nanoscience, Biotechnology and IT has granted 7.8 million DKK over a period of three years for establishment of the 'Computational models and tools for drug discovery' project. The project participants are Molegro, Bioinformatics Research Center (BiRC) and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, the Department of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and the biotech company Nuevolution A/S.

The project aims at developing a new generation of molecular docking algorithms based on novel theoretical biochemical models. The proposed algorithms and theoretical models will be integrated into Molegro's product line. The software will also be extended with grid-based computing that utilizes company workstations transparently and makes large-scale virtual screening possible for small and medium sized biotech companies.

The project runs for three years starting from February 1st, 2007.
