Molegro - Bioinformatics Solutions

Dear Reader,

Last week we presented our software at two seminars in Tokyo and Kyoto, and we had a lot of interesting discussions and feature requests, which should keep us busy for the rest of the summer.

But June also saw the release of new versions of both Molegro Virtual Docker and Molegro Data Modeller.

Molegro Data Modeller 2.5

MDM #1 MDM #2
Better support for very large datasets.

A new version of Molegro Data Modeller was released on June 11th, 2010. This version makes it easier to import and filter data, and it is now also possible to apply models to large datasets without loading the data into memory.

Major new features:
  • A new Import Dataset Wizard allows for previewing CSV datasets before import. It is also possible to filter the dataset and to import a row range of a dataset.
  • New Apply Model to External Dataset dialog for applying regression and classification models to external CSV files without importing all the data into memory. This makes it possible to make predictions on large datasets only limited by disk size.
  • Offline model predictions from the command line making it possible to integrate MDM in automated workflows.
  • Compare Training / Test Set dialog for measuring how close data points in a given dataset are to the data points used for model training. This can be used to estimate the reliability of the predictions.
  • Diversity Statistics dialog for analysing the diversity of a given dataset.

Molegro Virtual Docker 4.1

A minor update to Molegro Virtual Docker was released on June 9th, 2010.

MVG
Molegro Virtual Grid performance update.

Molegro Virtual Grid has been optimized to be faster and more CPU and disk efficient for larger datasets. The Agent and Controller GUIs have been improved. This update also fixes some network protocol problems on specific network configurations.

Some of the new features from Molegro Data Modeller are also available in the Data Analyzer in MVD. The new CSV import dialog is now also part of the Data Analyzer, and it is also possible to apply models to externals datasets without loading the data into memory.

If you haven't done it already, be sure to upgrade to the latest version of Molegro Virtual Docker (requires login).
